Digital video, data conversion and recovery
Converting between AVI, MPG and MOV.
Some software only works with certain formats notably Final Cut and i-movie on Mac which deal only with MOV (quicktime). Internally we need to convert between such formats in order to use the appropriate editing platform. But we offer this service to our customers also, so that we can receive any input format and can output in any format. This principal applies to video and to audio.
Converting between WAV, MP3 and Audio CD
We record native sound from external sources such as vinyl, audio tape and reel-to-reel. We always record in uncompressed WAV format, which allows us to export audio to customers in either MP3 (high compression) or Audio CD (low compression).
This has its advantages and disadvantages. Compression means that more sound can be stored on media, but compression means lower quality. Despite this, MP3 can do the job depending on the application, but sometimes, for hi-fi and sound enthusiasts it just won’t cut it. So we retain both possibilities.
Likewise on input, we can take in any format for editing, but the quality out depends on the quality in. This enables us for instance to extract sound from either WAV, MP3 or Audio CDs and to export either as Audio CD, WAV or MP3.
Uploading to YouTube
You may wish to export, view or retain your media on You Tube. We can do this for you, whether we handled the transfer from analogue or not.
As we can handle any format, we can also handle any physical media, whether USB key, hard disk, CD, DVD, your digital camera or analogue tape. This leads us occasionally to handle corrupted hard disks and damaged optical disks. No problem, if it is recoverable, we can do it – we have the connectors to take any media and the software to recover damaged hard drives and the equipment to resurface optical disks
